ETB stands for Ethiopian birr, a currency abbreviation.

Ethiopia's currency, issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia and divided into 100 santim. In July 2024 Ethiopia floated the birr, which lost more than half its value against the dollar.

Usage notes

Birr means "silver" in Amharic. The 2024 float was part of an IMF-supported reform program. Ethiopia's own calendar and 12-hour clock differ from Western ones, so dates on Ethiopian financial documents may need conversion.
