QSEHRA stands for Qualified small employer health reimbursement arrangement, a health insurance abbreviation.
HRA for employers with fewer than 50 full-time employees that do not offer a group plan, letting them reimburse workers tax-free for individual insurance premiums and medical costs up to annual limits set by the IRS. It was created by the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016.
Example: As a 12-person firm, we use a QSEHRA instead of a group health plan.
Usage notes
Pronounced "Q-sehra". Unlike an ICHRA, a QSEHRA has annual dollar caps and must be offered on the same terms to all eligible employees. The allowance reduces any marketplace premium tax credit the employee receives.
