BCM stands for Body control module, an automotive abbreviation.

Computer that manages a vehicle's body electronics, such as interior and exterior lights, power windows, door locks, wipers, the horn and the security system. Faults often show up as strange electrical behavior.

Example: The dome light, wipers and locks all went haywire, and the dealer traced it to a failed BCM.

Usage notes

The BCM communicates with other modules over the CAN network. Water leaks into the cabin are a common cause of BCM damage because the module often sits under the dashboard or seats. Replacement may require programming keys and remotes.
