WPR stands for War Powers Resolution, a US law abbreviation.
Law of 1973 requiring the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of sending armed forces into hostilities and to withdraw them within 60 days, plus a 30-day withdrawal period, unless Congress authorizes the action or extends the deadline.
Example: Members of Congress filed a WPR resolution to end US involvement in the conflict.
Usage notes
Congress passed it over President Richard Nixon's veto in November 1973, near the end of the Vietnam War. Presidents of both parties have questioned its constitutionality and often report "consistent with" rather than "pursuant to" the resolution. It is also called the War Powers Act.
