URR stands for Urea reduction ratio, a nephrology & urology abbreviation.
Percentage fall in blood urea nitrogen during a single hemodialysis session, calculated from pre- and post-treatment samples. A URR of 65 percent or more is the commonly cited adequacy target.
Example: Pre-BUN 68, post-BUN 20, URR 71 percent: adequate dialysis this month.
Usage notes
URR is simpler to calculate than Kt/V but ignores fluid removal and urea generated during the session. US dialysis quality reporting has used both measures. The post-dialysis sample must be drawn with a standardized slow-flow technique to avoid dilution by recirculated blood.
