1. Single-responsibility principle
Technology & Computing · Programming Abbreviations
The first SOLID principle: a class or module should have only one reason to change, meaning it serves one actor or concern. A class that both formats reports and saves them to the database violates it.
Example: Split the UserService; it handles login, emails and billing, which breaks SRP.
Robert C. Martin defines a responsibility as a reason to change, often tied to one group of stakeholders, rather than as "doing one thing". The idea builds on the older concepts of cohesion and separation of concerns. Overapplied, it scatters simple logic across many tiny classes.
2. Suggested retail price
Business & Finance · E-commerce & Retail Abbreviations
Price a manufacturer or distributor suggests for retail sale, widely used in the US and in the Philippines, where the government also sets SRPs for basic goods. Retailers may sell above or below it unless local law sets limits.
Example: The new console launches at an SRP of $499.
SRP is used interchangeably with MSRP in the US. In the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry publishes official SRP lists for basic necessities such as canned goods and bread.
