MSRP stands for Manufacturer's suggested retail price, an automotive abbreviation.
List price set by the automaker for a new vehicle, printed on the window sticker, which dealers may sell above or below. MSRP includes standard equipment and listed options but not taxes, registration or dealer fees.
Example: The MSRP is $38,500, but the dealer wants $5,000 over sticker because supply is tight.
Usage notes
In the US the window sticker is called a Monroney label after Senator Mike Monroney, sponsor of the 1958 Automobile Information Disclosure Act that requires it. The term is also used for electronics and other consumer goods. Buyers often negotiate from the dealer's invoice price, which is lower than MSRP.
