POJO stands for Plain old Java object, a programming abbreviation.
An ordinary Java object that does not depend on special framework classes or interfaces. The term pushed back against heavyweight Enterprise JavaBeans, and frameworks such as Spring were designed to work with POJOs.
Example: Make the config class a POJO so it can be tested without starting the container.
Usage notes
Coined in 2000 by Martin Fowler, Rebecca Parsons and Josh MacKenzie, who joked that ordinary objects needed a fancy name to become popular. Equivalents exist in other ecosystems, such as POCO (plain old CLR object) in .NET.
