1. Pink, warm and dry

Medical · Patient Assessment Abbreviations

Skin assessment shorthand meaning normal color, temperature and moisture, suggesting good perfusion. It is common in EMS and nursing charting.

Example: Skin PWD, cap refill under 2 sec, no edema.

Pale, cool and clammy skin, sometimes written PCC or "cool, clammy", signals shock or a sympathetic surge. Assessing color is harder in darker skin, where nail beds, lips and conjunctivae are checked instead. Outside medicine PWD commonly means person with a disability.

2. Print working directory (pwd)

Technology & Computing · Programming Abbreviations

The Unix and Linux shell command that prints the full path of the current directory, such as /home/ana/projects. It is one of the first commands taught to command-line beginners.

Example: Type pwd to confirm you're in the project folder before running the cleanup script.

PowerShell accepts pwd as an alias for Get-Location. Shells also store the current path in the PWD environment variable. In everyday writing "pwd" is also casual shorthand for password, so documentation context matters.
