Day treatment program providing hospital-level mental health or substance use services, typically 5–6 hours a day, five days a week, with patients returning home each evening. It is used to avoid or shorten inpatient admission.
Example: Step down from inpatient to PHP for 2 weeks; daily group therapy and psychiatric follow-up.
PHP is more intensive than an IOP and corresponds to ASAM level 2.5 in addiction care. Medicare covers PHP under specific conditions. Often called a day program or day hospital. In software development PHP is a widely used programming language, an unrelated meaning.
2. PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

A server-side scripting language designed for web development that powers WordPress, MediaWiki and many content management systems and online stores. Code is typically embedded in HTML and runs on the web server to generate pages.
Example: The plugin requires PHP 8.1 or higher, so ask the host to upgrade the server.
Created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994; the letters first meant "Personal Home Page" and later became the recursive "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor". PHP 7 (2015) roughly doubled performance, and PHP 8 (2020) added a JIT compiler and union types. Laravel and Symfony are its leading frameworks. Despite long-standing criticism of its inconsistencies, a large share of websites still run it.
3. Philippine peso

Example: The Manila to Cebu ferry ticket costs PHP 1,800.
The central bank introduced polymer banknotes in 2022, starting with a 1,000-peso note featuring the Philippine eagle. Remittances from overseas Filipino workers, among the largest in the world, strongly influence the peso. The same letters name the PHP programming language, which can confuse search results and currency converters.
