Judg. stands for Judges, a Bible book abbreviation.
Book of 21 chapters about Israel's tribal leaders, or judges, between Joshua's death and the monarchy, including Deborah, Gideon and Samson. Its repeated refrain is "In those days there was no king in Israel" (21:25).
Example: The story of Samson and Delilah is found in Judg. 16.
Usage notes
SBL writes Judg, and short forms use Jgs. Avoid "Jud.", which can be confused with Judith or Jude. The judges were mostly military deliverers rather than courtroom officials, and the book follows a cycle of sin, oppression, repentance and rescue.
