Josh. stands for Joshua, a Bible book abbreviation.
Book of 24 chapters describing the conquest and division of Canaan under Moses' successor Joshua, including the fall of Jericho's walls in chapter 6. It opens the Former Prophets in the Hebrew Bible and the historical books in Christian Bibles.

Usage notes
SBL uses Josh, and the Catholic NABRE uses Jos. Joshua's name is the Hebrew original of the name rendered in Greek as Jesus. Archaeologists debate how closely the conquest accounts match the historical record.
