iGPU stands for Integrated graphics processing unit, a computer hardware abbreviation.
Graphics processor built into the same chip or package as the CPU, sharing system memory instead of having its own video RAM. It handles desktop work, video playback and light gaming without a separate graphics card.
Example: The office PCs use the iGPU, so there's no need to buy graphics cards.
Usage notes
Integrated graphics are standard in Intel Core, AMD Ryzen G-series and Apple silicon chips, and laptops with both an iGPU and a dGPU switch between them to save battery. Intel's F-suffix processors have the iGPU disabled. Modern iGPUs include hardware video encoders, such as Intel Quick Sync, that are useful for streaming and editing.
