1. Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales

Gut bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and E. coli that resist carbapenems, the antibiotics of last resort for many infections, often by producing carbapenemase enzymes (KPC, NDM, OXA-48). Infections carry high mortality, and the CDC lists CRE as an urgent threat.
Example: Klebsiella blood isolate KPC-positive CRE; ceftazidime-avibactam started, infection prevention notified.
In 2013 the CDC director famously called CRE "nightmare bacteria". The family was formerly called Enterobacteriaceae, so older sources expand CRE that way. Carbapenemase genes travel on plasmids that can spread between species. Newer drugs include ceftazidime-avibactam, meropenem-vaborbactam and cefiderocol.
