Example: Kidney transplant recipient with CMV viremia 12,000 IU/mL; start valganciclovir treatment dose.
Also called human herpesvirus 5; "cytomegalo" refers to the enlarged infected cells with "owl's eye" inclusions seen under the microscope. Roughly 1 in 200 babies is born with congenital CMV. Ganciclovir, valganciclovir and letermovir prophylaxis are used in transplant care. Several US states require newborn CMV screening.

Federal term for a vehicle used in commerce that has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more, is designed to carry 9 or more people including the driver for pay or 16 or more without pay, or hauls placarded hazardous materials. CMVs are subject to FMCSA safety rules.
Example: Even a box truck over 10,001 pounds counts as a CMV, so the driver needs a medical card.
Not every CMV requires a commercial driver's license; the CDL threshold is generally 26,001 pounds. CMV drivers must carry a Department of Transportation medical certificate and follow hours-of-service rules. State definitions for intrastate commerce can differ.
