CategoriesBusiness & Finance

ABM stands for Account-based marketing, a marketing & advertising abbreviation.

B2B strategy that treats specific high-value companies as markets of one, coordinating personalized ads, content, events and sales outreach to the buying group within each target account instead of casting a wide net for leads.

Example: Our ABM program targets 50 hospital systems with tailored content for each CIO.

Usage notes

The term was coined by ITSMA, a technology services marketing association, in 2004. Programs range from one-to-one campaigns for a handful of strategic accounts to programmatic ABM covering thousands. In defense, ABM means anti-ballistic missile.
