U.S.L.W. stands for United States Law Week, a legal citation abbreviation.
Weekly legal publication from Bloomberg Industry Group, formerly BNA, issued since 1933, that reports new Supreme Court opinions, orders and docket activity along with significant lower-court decisions. Before online databases, it was the fastest printed source for new Supreme Court opinions.
Example: The decision was cited as 92 U.S.L.W. 4123 because no reporter had printed it yet.
Usage notes
The Bluebook allows citing U.S.L.W. for Supreme Court cases not yet in U.S., S. Ct. or L. Ed., giving the exact date of decision in the parenthetical, such as "(U.S. June 3, 2024)". Today Westlaw and Lexis citations have largely replaced it for recent cases, though it remains a news source for practitioners.
