Example: The invoice is on hold because the GRN shows only 480 of the 500 cartons arrived.
Common in UK, Indian, Middle Eastern and Australian business; US companies more often say receiving report. ERP systems generate electronic GRNs when warehouse staff scan deliveries. Discrepancies between the GRN and the invoice lead to supplier debit notes or credit requests.
