DMin stands for Doctor of Ministry, a degree abbreviation.
Professional doctorate for clergy and ministry leaders who already hold an MDiv and several years of ministry experience. Programs usually take three to four years of part-time study and culminate in an applied project addressing a problem in the student's own ministry setting.
Example: Pastor Williams completed a DMin in preaching while serving his congregation full time.
Usage notes
Written D.Min. Programs accredited by the Association of Theological Schools generally require an MDiv plus at least three years of ministry experience for admission. Unlike the ThD or PhD, the DMin is not designed to train academic scholars, though holders may use the title Dr.
