CKC stands for Closed kinetic chain, a rehabilitation abbreviation.
Exercise in which the hand or foot is fixed against a surface, such as squats, leg presses, step-ups or push-ups. Several joints and muscle groups work together.
Example: CKC: mini squats, step-ups 4-inch, wall slides 3 x 10.
Usage notes
Considered more functional for many everyday movements and often favored early after knee ligament surgery. Weight-bearing CKC exercises also improve balance and proprioception. Many programs combine open and closed chain work.
