CEB stands for Common English Bible, a religious term abbreviation.
Translation published in 2011 by a consortium of mainline Protestant publishers, including those of the Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ churches, prepared by about 120 scholars from many traditions. It aims for clear, natural English.
Example: The CEB renders "Son of Man" as "the Human One" in many passages.
Usage notes
The translation was tested with reading groups for clarity. Editions include the Apocrypha. Its sometimes unusual choices, such as "the Human One", have drawn both praise and criticism.
