DRB stands for Douay–Rheims Bible, a religious term abbreviation.
English Catholic translation from the Latin Vulgate made by exiles at the English College, with the New Testament published at Rheims in 1582 and the Old Testament at Douai in 1609–1610. It was the standard English Catholic Bible for centuries.
Example: Traditional Catholic families still read the DRB at home.
Usage notes
Most modern printings follow Bishop Richard Challoner's 18th-century revision, sometimes abbreviated DRA or DR. The translation's Latinate vocabulary influenced the KJV translators. Psalm numbering follows the Vulgate.
