Deductible that applies to most property claims, such as fire, theft or water damage, as distinct from separate, often larger deductibles for hurricanes, named storms, wind or earthquakes.

Example: Our AOP deductible is $1,000, but the hurricane deductible is 2% of the dwelling limit.

Coastal policies frequently state the hurricane deductible as a percentage, which can be far larger than the AOP amount. In management, AOP means annual operating plan.

2. Annual operating plan

Business & Finance · Management & Strategy Abbreviations

Detailed one-year plan that translates strategy into targets for revenue, expenses, headcount and capital spending, usually broken down by month and department. Once leadership or the board approves it, it becomes the baseline against which actual results are measured.

Example: Hiring for the second support team is in the AOP, but only from Q3.

Common in large US companies and multinationals; other organizations simply call it the annual plan or budget. The AOP process typically runs in the last quarter of the fiscal year. Variance to AOP is a standard line in monthly management reports.
