AFSC stands for Air Force Specialty Code, a military term abbreviation.
Alphanumeric code identifying an Air Force job and skill level, such as 3P0X1 for security forces, where the X is replaced by the airman's skill level of 3, 5, 7 or 9.
Example: My AFSC is 2A6X1, aerospace propulsion, and I just made my seven-level.
Usage notes
Officer AFSCs follow a different format, such as 11F for fighter pilot. Airmen progress through skill levels with upgrade training: apprentice (3), journeyman (5), craftsman (7) and superintendent (9). Space Force Guardians use specialty codes in a similar format.
