WAT stands for West Africa Time, a time zone abbreviation.

Used in Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, the western Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Niger and Chad, West Africa Time is one hour ahead of UTC, with no daylight saving.

Example: Lagos office hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. WAT, Monday to Friday.

Usage notes

Despite the name, much of West Africa, including Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Mali, uses GMT (UTC+0) instead, so Lagos is an hour ahead of Accra. WAT has the same offset as Central European winter time.
