ACST stands for Australian Central Standard Time, a time zone abbreviation.
UTC+9:30, used in South Australia, the Northern Territory and the city of Broken Hill in New South Wales. It is one of the few half-hour offsets used by a whole state.
Example: The Darwin flight lands at 6:05 p.m. ACST.
Usage notes
South Australia switches to Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT) from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, but the Northern Territory does not, so in summer Adelaide runs an hour ahead of Darwin. Broken Hill follows South Australian time because of its historic rail links to Adelaide.
