VASRD stands for VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities, a veteran abbreviation.
Section of federal regulations, 38 CFR Part 4, that lists diagnostic codes and criteria the VA uses to assign disability ratings from 0 to 100 percent in 10 percent steps.
Example: Under the VASRD, his PTSD symptoms met the criteria for a 70 percent rating.
Usage notes
Multiple ratings are combined with a formula, often called "VA math," so that 50 percent plus 30 percent equals 70 percent, not 80. The VA has been updating each body system's criteria to reflect modern medicine. The military also uses the VASRD in medical retirement decisions.
