UNSG stands for United Nations Secretary-General, an international organization abbreviation.
Chief administrative officer of the United Nations, who heads the Secretariat, brings threats to peace to the Security Council's attention and acts as the organization's main diplomat. The Secretary-General is appointed by the General Assembly on the Security Council's recommendation.

Usage notes
Terms are five years and may be renewed; by tradition no one has served more than two. Nine people have held the post since 1946, all men, which fueled calls for a woman to be selected. The Secretary-General is sometimes described as more secretary than general because power rests with member states.
