Tue stands for Tuesday, a day of the week abbreviation.
Named for Tiw (Tyr in Norse), a Germanic god of war and law. Old English Tiwesdaeg translated Latin dies Martis, the day of Mars, still seen in French mardi and Spanish martes.
Example: Trash pickup moves to Tue this week because of the holiday.
Usage notes
Tue is the three-letter form AP allows in tabular material. US federal elections fall on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, and Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) precedes Ash Wednesday. In Spanish- and Greek-speaking countries, Tuesday the 13th rather than Friday the 13th is the traditional unlucky day.
