Usage notes

Friday the 13th is considered unlucky in much of the English-speaking world. In many Muslim-majority countries Friday is the day of congregational prayer and part of the weekend, although the United Arab Emirates moved to a Saturday-Sunday weekend in 2022 with a half day on Friday. TGIF ("thank God it's Friday") celebrates the end of the work week.
