1. Term loan B
Business & Finance · Finance Abbreviations
Institutional term loan, usually floating rate, sold to investors such as CLOs and loan funds rather than held by banks, with minimal amortization (often 1 percent a year) and a bullet repayment at maturity. TLBs are the backbone of leveraged buyout financing.
Example: The sponsor financed the deal with a $2 billion TLB priced at SOFR plus 350 basis points.
By contrast, a term loan A (TLA) amortizes faster and is held mainly by banks. Most TLBs are covenant-lite, meaning they lack maintenance covenants. The US leveraged loan market, in which TLBs form the core, exceeds $1 trillion.
2. The Living Bible
Religion · Religious Term Abbreviations
Paraphrase of the Bible by Kenneth N. Taylor, completed in 1971, which he began by rewriting passages in simple language for his children. It became the best-selling book in the US in the early 1970s.
Example: My grandmother's TLB is underlined on almost every page.
Taylor founded Tyndale House Publishers to publish it. Because it is a paraphrase from English versions, Tyndale later commissioned the New Living Translation as a full translation from the original languages. "The Way" was a popular youth edition.
