SACSCOC stands for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, an academic abbreviation.

Institutional accreditor for degree-granting colleges and universities in 11 southern states, from Virginia to Texas, and some institutions abroad. Accreditation lets schools participate in federal student aid programs.

Example: The university's SACSCOC reaffirmation includes a Quality Enhancement Plan on student writing.

Usage notes

Florida law since 2022 has required public universities to change accreditors at each renewal cycle, and in 2025 several southern public university systems announced a new accreditor, the Commission for Public Higher Education. Reaffirmation occurs every ten years. Institutions also submit a fifth-year interim report between reviews.
