RHS stands for Right-hand side, a math abbreviation.

The expression to the right of an equals sign, inequality or other relation. Proofs of identities often transform one side until it matches the other.

Example: Expanding the RHS gives a² + 2ab + b², which equals the LHS.

Usage notes

In British and Indian geometry, RHS also names the right angle-hypotenuse-side congruence test. Programmers speak of the right-hand side of an assignment, the value being stored. Exam mark schemes in the UK frequently reward "LHS = RHS" as the final line of a proof.
