qtr stands for Quarter, a time abbreviation.

A three-month period of a year, used in business reports, tax filings, school calendars and sports. US quarterly estimated taxes are due in April, June, September and January.

Example: Revenue for the qtr ended June 30 rose 8 percent.

Usage notes

Plural: qtrs. Quarters are numbered Q1 to Q4 within a calendar or fiscal year. Some US universities use a quarter system of three 10-week terms plus a summer quarter, and American football and basketball games are divided into four quarters. Coin listings also abbreviate the 25-cent quarter as qtr.
