MMBtu stands for Million British thermal units, an engineering unit abbreviation.

The standard pricing unit for natural gas in North American markets, equal to one million BTU or about 1.055 gigajoules. Henry Hub natural gas futures are quoted in dollars per MMBtu.

Example: Henry Hub spot gas settled at $3.10 per MMBtu.

Usage notes

The double M follows the old Roman-numeral convention: a thousand thousands. One MMBtu is 10 therms and roughly the energy in 1,000 cubic feet (one Mcf) of natural gas. Global LNG cargoes are also priced per MMBtu. Variants include mmBtu and MMBTU.
