MHz stands for Megahertz, an engineering unit abbreviation.

One million hertz, used for FM radio (88 to 108 MHz), TV and cellular bands, and historically for processor clock speeds. A station at 101.1 MHz transmits at 101.1 million cycles per second.

Example: Tune to 101.1 MHz for the station's live broadcast of the game.

Usage notes

CPU speeds were quoted in MHz until processors passed 1 GHz in 2000. RAM speeds are still marketed in "MHz", though the figure really represents megatransfers per second. In the US, FM stations sit on odd decimals from 88.1 to 107.9, spaced 200 kHz apart.
