L4L stands for Like for like, a social media abbreviation.

Offer to like someone's posts in return for likes on one's own, posted as a hashtag or comment on Instagram and TikTok to boost engagement.

Example: L4L, just drop a comment and I'll like your last three posts.

Usage notes

A companion to F4F (follow for follow). Popular in the mid-2010s when likes were the main measure of success on Instagram. Since Instagram began testing hidden like counts in 2019, the practice has lost some of its appeal.
