CategoriesTexting & Internet Slang

F4F stands for Follow for follow, a social media abbreviation.

Offer or request to follow someone's account in exchange for being followed back, used in Instagram, TikTok and Twitter hashtags and comments to grow follower counts quickly.

Example: New to bookstagram, f4f? I post reviews every Sunday.

Usage notes

Part of a family of engagement swaps with L4L (like for like) and S4S (shoutout for shoutout). Such schemes inflate numbers but rarely build real engagement, and platforms penalize automated or bulk follow-unfollow behavior. Marketers generally advise against them.
