ISK stands for Icelandic krona, a currency abbreviation.
Iceland's currency, issued by the Central Bank of Iceland and one of the smallest freely floating currencies. It lost roughly half its value against the euro during the 2008 banking collapse.
Example: A hot dog from a Reykjavik stand costs about ISK 700.
Usage notes
Iceland imposed capital controls after 2008 and lifted most of them in 2017. The aurar subunit was abolished in 2003. The tourism boom of the 2010s strengthened the krona considerably. Prices are written kr.
