IFV stands for Infantry fighting vehicle, a weapon and military equipment abbreviation.
Armored vehicle that carries infantry and also fights with a cannon and often anti-tank missiles, operating alongside tanks. Examples include the US M2 Bradley, the German Puma and the Russian BMP.

Usage notes
The Soviet BMP-1, introduced in the 1960s, pioneered the concept. IFVs are heavier and better armed than APCs. The Army's planned Bradley replacement program has gone through several names and delays.
