In StarCraft and other real-time strategy games, typing "gg" before leaving became the conventional way to concede, and the custom spread to esports worldwide. Sarcastic "gg" after a teammate's blunder, or typed early in a losing match, can be toxic. In everyday chat, "gg" also marks any lost cause, as in "phone died, gg."
