FTTH stands for Fiber to the home, a telecom abbreviation.
Broadband network in which optical fiber runs all the way into each home, offering symmetrical gigabit speeds and beyond, low latency and high reliability. It is considered the gold standard for fixed internet access.
Example: Since FTTH reached our street, uploads are as fast as downloads.
Usage notes
FTTH networks usually use passive optical network technology such as GPON or XGS-PON, with an optical network terminal installed inside the home. Countries such as South Korea, Japan, Spain and China built extensive FTTH networks early. Unlike copper or coaxial cable, fiber is immune to electrical interference. The broader term FTTP includes businesses as well as homes.
