Diet of foods that are liquid or melt to liquid at body temperature, including milk, strained cream soups, pudding, yogurt, ice cream and nutritional shakes. It bridges clear liquids and soft or regular food.
Example: Tolerated CLD breakfast, advance to FLD for lunch per ADAT order.
Provides more calories and protein than clear liquids but contains lactose, a problem for some patients. It is sometimes used after jaw wiring or oral surgery. Full liquids are not the same as thickened liquids, which are prescribed for swallowing problems.
