FDC stands for Fire department connection, an emergency services abbreviation.
Inlet on the outside of a building where fire engines pump water into the building's sprinkler or standpipe system. FDCs usually have two hose inlets and are often called Siamese connections.
Example: Engine 7, hook up to the FDC on the north side and supply the sprinklers.
Usage notes
Fire codes require FDCs to be visible and unobstructed, so parking in front of one is illegal in many places. Signs indicate which system the connection serves. Firefighters pump at set pressures based on the building's design.
