CGK stands for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, an airport code abbreviation.
Indonesia's busiest airport and the hub of Garuda Indonesia, located in Tangerang, west of Jakarta. It is named for Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, the country's first president and vice president.
Example: Traffic from CGK into central Jakarta can take two hours, so the airport train is a lifesaver.
Usage notes
ICAO code WIII. The code comes from Cengkareng, the district near the airport, which is still a common name for it. Its original terminals, opened in 1985, featured traditional Javanese pavilion architecture. Jakarta's older Halim airport (HLP) handles some domestic flights.
