CFII stands for Certified flight instructor - instrument, an aviation abbreviation.

Flight instructor certificate with an instrument rating added, allowing the holder to teach instrument flying and endorse students for the instrument rating checkride. CFIIs train pilots to fly approaches, holds and en-route navigation solely by reference to instruments.

Example: I'm flying with a CFII twice a week until my instrument checkride in March.

Usage notes

Pronounced "C-F-double-I." Adding it requires an instrument rating and a practical test. Instrument students must receive at least 15 hours of instrument training from an authorized instructor among the 40 hours of instrument time required under 14 CFR 61.65.
