CEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control, a consumer electronics abbreviation.
HDMI feature that lets connected devices control each other, so one remote can turn on the TV, switch inputs and adjust soundbar volume, and starting a console can wake the TV.
Example: With CEC enabled, pressing play on the streaming stick turns the TV on automatically.
Usage notes
CEC has been part of HDMI since its first version in 2002. Manufacturers give it brand names such as Anynet+ (Samsung), BRAVIA Sync (Sony), SimpLink (LG) and EasyLink (Philips), which makes the setting hard to find. Implementations vary, so devices from different brands sometimes behave unpredictably, such as turning on when not wanted.
