BTech stands for Bachelor of Technology, a degree abbreviation.
Four-year undergraduate engineering degree awarded by the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology and most Indian engineering colleges. Admission to the IITs is through the JEE Advanced exam, while the NITs admit through JEE Main.
Example: Several software firms recruited directly from the BTech graduating class at NIT Trichy.
Usage notes
Written B.Tech. in India. Outside India the title can describe a more applied, technology-focused degree, for example at some Canadian and South African institutions. Indian BTech graduates often continue to an MTech at home or an MS in the US.
