ASPD stands for Antisocial personality disorder, a mental health & psychiatry abbreviation.

Personality disorder defined by a pervasive pattern of disregarding and violating the rights of others since age 15, including deceitfulness, impulsivity, aggression, recklessness and lack of remorse. Diagnosis requires age 18 or older and evidence of conduct disorder before 15.

Example: ASPD with history of conduct disorder, multiple assault charges; court-mandated treatment.

Usage notes

More common in men and heavily overrepresented in prison populations. "Psychopathy", assessed with the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, overlaps with but is not identical to ASPD, and "sociopath" is not a diagnostic term. The word antisocial here means against society, not unsociable or shy.
