20-F stands for Form 20-F, a stock market & investing abbreviation.
Annual report filed with the SEC by foreign private issuers, non-US companies whose shares or ADRs trade in the United States. It plays the same role as the 10-K for domestic companies, but financial statements may be prepared under IFRS.
Example: The Chinese e-commerce group's 20-F details the VIE contracts behind its corporate structure.
Usage notes
The 20-F is due within four months of fiscal year-end. Companies such as Toyota, Shell and Alibaba file 20-Fs. Many Canadian issuers can use Form 40-F instead, and foreign private issuers furnish interim information on Form 6-K rather than filing 10-Qs.
